MEP Engineer / Designer

CEG Solutions is seeking a MEP Engineer/Designer, with Energy, HVAC & Plumbing skills, to support a variety of mechanical system, distributed energy, building automation control, and deep energy retrofit analysis and design efforts from conceptual development through construction support for energy solutions for the built environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in design and consulting engineering for a variety of project types involving energy systems, HVAC systems, plumbing systems and will have the capability to bring creative solutions to multifaceted and complex projects. Functional job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for Front-End Engineering and overseeing the production design deliverables for large, energy focused capital projects and solutions within the built environment.
  • Responsible for overseeing internal and external engineering teams.
  • Responsible for tracking, managing, and reporting on project progress, costs, and schedules.
  • Responsible for drawing reviews, client reviews and interface, engineering model reviews, and related calculations.
  • A passion for building energy systems, energy efficiency, renewable and alternative energy, and sustainability. Experience working on energy efficiency projects, energy audits and cost estimating.
  • Ability to work independently and monitor / mentor junior engineers to meet the required deliverables on large projects or several simultaneous smaller projects.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills ​

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering required; Mechanical discipline preferred
  • 10+ years (minimum) of experience in industrial and commercial design of HVAC and Plumbing systems
  • Professional Engineering License (P.E.) preferred
  • Working Experience with the following:
    • HVAC System Design - Cooling towers, Chillers, Fans, Boilers, Pumps, AHUs, Heat Pumps, Humidification Systems, Hot Water Heaters, etc.
    • Controls System Design – building automation system control diagrams, points lists, and sequence of operations
    • Energy Analysis – spreadsheet calculations and/or energy modeling software to predict building energy use and efficiency measures
    • Renewable and Alternative Energy Systems – photovoltaic systems sizing and analysis, battery energy storage and load shifting strategies, and design or analysis of on-site generation systems (generators, fuel cells, co-generation)
    • Plumbing System Design - Design of plumbing systems including domestic hot/cold water lines and sanitary/waste lines.
    • Fluent with national codes and standards (ICC, ASHRAE, SMACNA, and NFPA)
  • Working knowledge of other engineering disciplines and the ability to coordinate with them to meet design requirements.
  • Ability to travel as needed to survey client sites.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with supervisory experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Willingness to travel for site audits and walks, client meetings, internal meetings. Travel is estimated at 20% of working time.
  • Work at client sites may require using and wearing personal protective equipment such as fire-retardant clothing, hearing and eye protection, hard hats and steel-toed boots.
  • Work at client sites may require moderate physical exertion including walking, ascending/descending stairs, carrying site data collection equipment.
  • ​This may include climbing ladders, lifting to up to 35 lbs., etc.

Hybrid Work Model

Most of our team operates in a remote or hybrid workplace model that optimizes a combination of virtual and in-person interactions. We are intentional when we co-locate with each other and our clients for maximum impact while empowering our people to preserve the flexibility that they desire. The nature of our work managing client transformations will require some team members to be onsite at client locations, therefore the ability to travel is expected.

Our hybrid model benefits our people, and notably the environment. By reducing travel and commuting time, this aids in the reduction of our carbon footprint.

Wages + Salary

The salary range for this position is $145,000 to $170,000 annually. CEG Solutions LLC takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

Please note that this is a general estimate and does not incorporate any adjustments for geographic location. Typically, starting salaries are determined based on individual qualifications and experience, and may fall below the top end of the range.

In addition to your salary, you may qualify for our annual bonus program. This program is discretionary and awards, if any, are based on your performance as well as the company's overall success.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Performance of the job responsibilities will require the ability to (1) use tools and operate equipment in the field, (2) ascend/descend both exterior and interior ladders/stairs, and (3) move safely around an area under construction. The employee must also be able to easily communicate with clients, stakeholders, and other employees and observe various pieces of equipment in the field. The employee must occasionally move and/or transport up to 75 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works at the construction work site where the employee is at risk of moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud. Personal protection equipment and required safety training will be provided by the employer.
